Charles Moore Richey (2/1/1923-2/25/2012) passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness. Chuck was born in Stronghurst, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, including a post in Guam. After being discharged, he graduated from Monmouth College in Illinois where he met and married Kay. They were married for 61 years.
Having moved, to California in 1952, they settled in Ventura County in 1962. His career path included accounting and owning several businesses. He loved family camping and playing golf. He was treasurer and president of the Saticoy Senior Men's Golf Club. He was also a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. At Cypress Place Assisted living, Chuck enjoyed sports activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Tom Richey and three brothers: Tom, John, and Dennis. Chuck is survived by his wife, Kay, daughters: Karen Rittenburg (William), LuAnn Smith (Richard), grandchildren Jeff (Shannon) and Julie Smith, Marianne and Michael Rittenburg. He is also survived by Mrs. Tom Richey (Connie) and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3rd at Cypress Place Assisted Living, 1200 Cypress Point Lane in Ventura. In lieu of flowers, donations may be designated to Eastminster Presbyterian Church or the Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice.
