Catherine was born in Denver, Colorado on October 2, 1935. Her family moved west to Los Angeles where she graduated from Los Angeles High School (Class of Winter, 1954) and worked as an operator for Pacific Telephone.
She soon met a young Navy sailor whose gruff exterior couldn’t hide the gentleman within. They married in 1958 and shared all that life had to offer over the next 58 years.
Catherine and Bruce moved their growing family from a starter home in Hawthorne, to Saugus and finally to Ventura, where they were immediately greeted by the infamous floods of 1969. Despite the ominous welcome, they greatly enjoyed their lives together in Ventura where they raised a wonderful family.
Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved son Michael, her loving parents Margaret and Jack Fagan and the crown jewels of in-laws, mother-in-law Dorothy Reeve and sister-in-law Marilyn Hoherd.
She is survived by her loving husband Bruce, and their children: daughter Kathleen Arthur (Bill), son Patrick Reeve (Kelly), son Deacon Christopher Reeve, and son Douglas Reeve (Cristina). Catherine is also survived by grandchildren Carolyn, Joseph, Brian, Shawn, Justin and Kevin, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Finally, Catherine is survived by possibly the best doo-wop and 50’s rock n’ roll group to ever assemble in a kitchen at family gatherings. This group was formed by her brothers and sisters; John, Ed, and Bill Fagan, Patty Layne and Marynell Steburg. Although arguably none of them could carry a tune in a wheelbarrow, together they sounded simply wonderful. Each song was a memory of their shared past and their everlasting bond.
There will be a Rosary and reception at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, between 6-8pm on Sunday, November 20th.
