Bobby was born on May 5, 1940, in Bakersfield, California, to Dell Parker and Gladys Durbin Parker. He lived in Kern County until they moved to Rancho Matilija in Ojai at the age of 9. Bobby attended school in the Ventura School District culminating in graduation from Ventura High School in 1958. He was an active member of the Class Reunion Committee until he became too ill to participate. Bobby was married to Lora Lee Sandefur and they had 3 children, Doyle, Tracy and Jon. In his early years he worked at Ventura Pipeline, RE Barber Ford, US Forestry Service and began his career at Southern California Edison. In 1964 he and Lora Lee divorced and Bobby was drafted into the United States Army in 1965, where he spent time at Fort Polk, Louisiana, until the Army realized they could not keep him because he had so many children and Bobby received an Honorable Discharge after 4 months. In 1966 he met and married Jeananette “Jean” Poulis, who would become his life partner. They had two children, Sara and Stephanie. Bobby continued to work at Edison, but then decided to branch out on his own with Oaks Electric and eventually partnered with his son, Doyle. In 1986 he returned to Edison and he worked in Compton, Valencia, Santa Barbara and retired from Tulare District in 1997 as an Electrical Crew Foreman. He then worked for Sturgeon Electric and Hot Line Electric who did contract work for Edison.
Bobby was very active in his children’s lives often coaching their sports teams, especially girl’s youth basketball. He enjoyed building old Chevrolet Pick-ups, riding his motorcycle and traveling by car. Bobby was famous for saying “I’ve never been down this road before…” then he would go down that road.
