Rebecca “Becky” Ann Davies, nee Brubaker, passed away Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, in her home in Venice, Florida, following seven years of treatment for mucosal melanoma. Becky was with her loving husband and two daughters when she passed. The daughter of Merrill Brubaker and Anna Randolph Brubaker, Becky was born on February 11th, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and grew up in Gratis, Ohio. She graduated in 1963 from Gratis High School, where she was a cheerleader and class salutatorian.
Becky attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she worked in the athletic ticket office and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1966. That same year, Becky married her childhood sweetheart, Frederick (Fred) Davies. Becky and Fred met in early elementary school and began dating in early high school when they attended rival high schools. They married in Oxford and raised their family in Hamilton, Ohio. In her early career, Becky taught in Lakota and Hamilton City School Districts. She earned her Master's degree in Educational Guidance from Xavier University in 1985 and then transitioned to a career in adult education at D. Russell Lee Vocational School doing adult education, training, and placement. In Hamilton, Becky enjoyed friendships through Junior League, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and Grace United Methodist Church. Becky also taught study skills and college test preparation classes at Miami University in Hamilton.
Becky was warm and kind, truly a bright light in the world who was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed. Becky enjoyed spending time with family and friends; she devoted her life to loving and caring for others. She had a lifelong love of reading, attending theater productions, Jazzercise, sewing, and spending time at the beach. After retiring, Becky and Fred moved to Siesta Key and then to Osprey, Florida. In 2023 they moved to Jacaranda Trace retirement community in Venice, Florida.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband, Fred; two daughters, Anne (Frank) Vicino of Boca Raton, Florida, and Susan (Allen Perry) Davies of Milford, Ohio; granddaughters Cara, Mia, and Charley Gfroerer; grandson Andrew Vicino; step grandsons AJ, Jack, and Jeff Perry; and step granddaughters Shelby and Hannah Vicino. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Nick (Lynn), John (Sherry), and Stan (Laurie) Brubaker, and numerous nieces and nephews.
