Joanne Kahler, 88, passed away at her home in the South Gulf Cove Community of Port Charlotte, Florida on September 26, 2024. Joanne led a very happy and active life filled with family, friends and many activities associated with her church. Prior to moving to Florida, Joanne enjoyed her summer months at her cottage in Ripley, New York along the shores of Lake Erie. She was extremely proud of her Irish Heritage and was an avid football fan.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Chuck) Kahler and her parents Thelma (Ferguson) and James O’Harrow of NuMine, Pennsylvania.
Joanne will be immensely missed and will be remembered by her children: Robin (Robb) Fort of Littleton, Colorado, Robert (Brenda) Fletcher of Kittanning Pennsylvania and Michael (Kathy) Fletcher of Westfield, New York. Her step-daughters Julie (Thomas) Ulrich of Islip Terrace, NY and Angela Kahler of NYC. Her grandchildren: Patrick (Ana Lucia) Fort of Washington, DC and Hannah Fort of Grand Junction, Colorado. Her Step Grandchildren: Thomas (Oneonta, NY) and Maggie (New Rochelle, NY). Her sister, Arla (John( Hilovsky of Roanoke, Virginia and brother James (Ginny) O’Harrow of Englewood, Florida. Her nieces and nephews: Kelli
O’Harrow, Jonathan O’Harrow, Adam O’Harrow, Patricia Wolterbeek, John Hilovsky and Mary Lynn Hilovsky.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 9:30 AM Friday, October 11, 2024 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 5265 Placida Road, Grove City, Florida with a luncheon to follow at the church hall.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the World Central Kitchen whose teams are currently helping to feed families impacted by Hurricane Helene (https://wck.org)
