Our beloved Aunt Betty, Elizabeth F. Powers, 96, of Venice Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 1, 2023. She was born April 4, 1926 in Pittsfield, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband John T Powers, her parents Alexander and Anna Laughery Dickson and her brothers William A. & Robert M. Dickson.
Betty graduated from Pittsfield High School class of 1944, from Bishop Memorial School of Nursing in 1947 and later from Syracuse University School of Nursing. She first worked at Pittsfield General Hospital as a supervisor and later as a Public Health Director for the state of Pennsylvania.
After retiring Betty enjoyed being with family and friends, traveling, walking and reading. She had a wonderful sense of humor that the family always enjoyed. She and her husband later moved to Florida from Reading, PA. She is survived by three nieces, two nephews, their spouses, and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on February 11th at 11am at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army in her memory.
