Brian Clayton Maust, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cherished friend, passed away on Wednesday, May 31 2023, in Venice, Florida from complications related to his long-standing battle with Type 1 diabetes. His departure has left a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his memory will forever be cherished.
Born on October 10, 1951, Brian was the beloved son of the late Irving Clayton “Bud” Maust (Sara) and Glen Marie (Reche) Maust. Throughout his life, Brian touched the hearts of those around him with his big personality and unwavering dedication to his family, friends and country. His passing has left an indelible mark on the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Brian shared 48 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Rita. Their unwavering commitment to one another was a testament to the strength of their relationship. Brian's passing leaves Rita with a deep sense of loss, but also a lifetime of cherished memories.
In addition to his wife, Brian is survived by his beloved children, Chris (Nicole), Eric (Gabriela), and Emily. Brian was a loving and proud father who instilled in his children the same values he strengthened in his time serving in the army: loyalty, respect, honor, integrity, and courage. He was a source of unwavering support throughout their lives.
As a proud grandfather, Brian adored his granddaughter, Amelia and grandson, Hunter. He found immense joy in their presence and relished the time spent with them… especially when they kept things tidy. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives of his grandchildren.
Brian was preceded in death by his brother Bob Maust and will be dearly missed by his sister, Breon Lott, her husband, Charles, Bob’s wife, Gail Griffin, and all of his brothers and sisters-in-law who shared a close bond with him. Their fond memories of Brian will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Brian had a deep passion for tractors, yardwork, and his alphabetized collection of tools. His dream was to own a little farm in Michigan near his and Rita’s loved ones. However, after 28 dedicated years at Ford Motor Company, life took an unexpected turn when Brian and Rita made the decision to trade in his beloved John Deere for a cozy life near the sea in Venice, Florida. Brian's interests then shifted from visiting tractor dealers and tractor supply stores to exploring boat shows and marine supply shops. He embraced his new environment and basked in the sunshine with enthusiasm and an open heart.
Among his many passions, music held a special place in Brian's heart. He had an incredible talent for finding joy in every beat, and his distinct dance moves will forever be remembered by those who had the pleasure of witnessing them. Brian's love for music brought happiness to countless gatherings and left a lasting impression on everyone around.
Brian, you will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Rest in peace, dear Brian.
