Zane Raymond Miller was born May 3 1931 in Vancouver, Washington to Raymond P. and Vivian E. Miller. At age 6, Zane drove a 22 Caterpillar to do farm work and cultivate prune orchards in Felida. He attended Felida Elementary School grade 1-6, then attended Shumway Junior High and finished school at Vancouver High School, graduating in the class of 1950. Zane drove a milk truck for Miller Truck Line, the family business, from 1945 – 1970. He worked for Erickson Farms in Lakeshore; Anderson Dairy in Battle Ground and McGregor Chemical Co. in Pullman, Washington.
Zane was a member of the Felida Baptist Church, the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia; Clark County Genealogical Society and the Clark County Historical Society plus the North Clark Historical Museum in Amboy, WA. He enjoyed history, museums, antiques and visiting with people.
Zane is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lela; daughters, Annette (Russ) Pleiss of Battle Ground and Anita (Stuart) Caruk of Ridgefield; sisters, Joanne Boyer of Portland and June (Marv) Harrison of Dallas Port, WA; and brother, Raymond (Mary) Miller of Battle Ground. He also enjoyed his three grandchildren and two Great-grandchildren. He said, “they were all great”. He is preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Schurman.
A funeral service for Zane will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, October 20, 2014 at Felida Baptist Church, 3027 NW 119th St., Vancouver, WA 98685. Viewing will be 1:30 – 4:00 PM, Sunday, Oct 19th at the Vancouver Funeral Chapel.
