Margaret Frink-Bates, 96 was born July 7, 1914 in the Daybreak community near Battle Ground Washington to Buren Burt and Bessie (Colby) Burt. She was the youngest of five children. She passed away on May 27, 2011.
She graduated from Vancouver High School in 1932.
Margaret was an avid competitor be it bowling, golf, horseshoes, shooting pool or playing cards. All too often she had to throw the game to maintain family harmony.
On October 14, 1934 she married Andrew "Dan" Frink. Dan later joined the Army Air Corps (later called the U.S. Airforce) and they had various homes throughout the country living once in Japan a country and people they both loved.
Margaret and Dan had three sons Gerald Duane, Thomas David, and Steven Arthur.
Dan passed away on May 17, 1978.
After living on her own for 12 years Margaret married Jerry Bates on April 26, 1990. Jerry passed away on December 4, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by her sons. Steven who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968 and Jerry who died in a boating accident in 1980.
In addition to thousands of wonderful memories and hundreds of friends, Margaret is leaving behind her son, Thomas; two daughters-in-law, Jerry's wife Carolyn and Thomas' wife Judy; four grandchildren, Christine, Daniel (Michelle) and Steven (Annika) Frink, and Theresa (Alex) McMurry; and two great-grandchildren, Donovan Frink and Tess McMurry.
She will be greatly missed by us all.
A service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, June 6 at Vancouver Funeral Chapel, 110 E 12th St., Vancouver, WA 98660.
