Les was born to his parents Leslie Bland Vaughn and Marion Kilpatrick Vaughn in Ontario, Oregon. He worked with his family on their dairy farm in Vale, Oregon until 1959.
Les was the fourth child in the family of five children. His siblings were Verlin, Marjorie, Mona and Al. Les was preceded in death by his parents, brother Verlin and sister Marjorie Skelton Eldred. In the natural family, he is survived by Mona Armas (Jess) of Salem, Oregon and Al Vaughn (Kathy) of Maupin, Oregon.
Les was given the gift of music in his soul as a very young child. Music was his constant companion to the end of his earthly life. He joyfully and generously shared his gift.
He gratefully spoke of how richly God had blessed him while humbly expressing the wonder of why Jesus loved him. His faith in Jesus as his Savior gave him hope and comfort in his last days.
Les served four years in the United States Navy on the USS Ticonderoga.
His daughter Ladena (Dan) Polansky lives in Mt. Vernon, Washington. Les enjoyed Ladena and his three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He often mentioned his visits with her family.
Les' son Matt (Amy) lives in Vancouver, Washington. He inherited Les' looks as well as his love of guitar and motorcycle riding. Les did not want to die alone. Matt and Al, on behalf of the family and friends, made sure for 17 days he was not alone.
Les' sons Eric Vaughn and Ryan Vaughn live in Portland, Oregon. They visited Les before he died.
Les had nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by friends too numerous to list.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.vancouverfuneralchapel.net for the Vaughn family.
