Joann Parkinson, 92, of Vancouver, Washington, passed away on February 22, 2019. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 29, 1926, the only child of Walter and Martha Roseberry. She graduated from North High School in Columbus, Ohio in 1945. She then went on to Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1950. Joann Roseberry married John R. Parkinson on August 5, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio. John was the love of her life and they were married for 67 years.
Joann was devoted to her family and volunteered for a number of years for the Overlake Service League in Bellevue, Washington. Her love of children was also fulfilled by volunteering as a reading tutor at Prune Hill Elementary in Camas, Washington during the last six years of her life. Joann will be remembered for her attentiveness, love, and sweetness to her family as well as many interests including gardening, reading, traveling, watching Buckeye football and the Ohio State marching band, and sewing.
Joann is survived by her husband, John, of Vancouver, Washington; children Martha (Mark) Stewart of Vancouver, Washington; John J. (Bang) Parkinson of Kent, Washington; Craig Parkinson and Gwynne Top of Everson, Washington; and Kent (Kristen) Parkinson of Snohomish, Washington; grandchildren John Stewart, Daniel Parkinson, Katherine Stewart, Laura Lark, Erin Parkinson, Jared Parkinson, Kelton Parkinson, and Jacob Top; and great-grandchildren Kasper, Lily and Violet.
A celebration of Joann’s life will be held on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2019 where memories, stories, and laughter will be shared by her family. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, Washington. Arrangements entrusted to Vancouver Funeral Chapel in Vancouver, Washington.
