Irene T. Cullen

Irene moved to Oregon in 1946 and married the love of her life, Clayton, in Medford, Oregon July 20, 1946. Later they moved to Salem in 1954, then moving to the Portland/Vancouver area in 1999.

Irene worked as a beautician and owned salons in Portland, Ashland, Minnesota and Iowa. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, travel, play bingo and watch baseball.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Doug) Schleich; brother, Walter Szybczynski; sister, Sophie Szybczynski; grandchildren, Jennifer and Tony and her great-granddaughter, Addison. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; 1 brother and 3 sisters.

At Irene’s request no funeral Mass will be held, however, a Mass will be said for her at Mt. Angel Abbey, which was a special place for her and Clayton.

Irene’s family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Ashley Inn and The Hampton for the loving care they took of Irene.
