Inez S. Olin

Mrs. Inez Sophie Olin passed away June 11, 2017 at the age of 100. She was born November 20, 1916 in Judson, North Dakota to Charles and Sophie (Sturm) Hasse. She graduated from New Salem High School in North Dakota, and attended Dickinson North Dakota Teacher’s College. She taught school in North Dakota and Vancouver, Washington.

Inez married Jerald “Jerry” Olin (Almont, ND) on March 26, 1937 in Bismark, ND. There they moved to Minot, ND and then to Vancouver, Washington in 1942.

Inez was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Independent Order of Foresters, a lifetime member of the PTA, and a volunteer for the Ft. Vancouver Seafarer Center. She loved her family, writing and receiving letters, working crossword puzzles and her church, Trinity Lutheran.

She is survived by 4 children, Karen Dickenson of Vancouver; Dennis (Kathy) of Bellevue, WA; Michael (Gloria) of Bend, OR; and Sandra (Alton) of Honolulu, HI. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Michael (Loni) Dickenson and Debra (Dan) Wilson of Vancouver; Amy (Tim) Gillis of Phoenix, AZ; Megan ( Steve) Dougherty of Enumclaw, WA; Jill (James) Gentes of Bend, OR; Brandon (Melissa) Olin of Bend, OR; Andrea (Whit) Fujii Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; Erin Fujii of Los Angeles, Ca; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 ½ years, Jerry, in 2004; her brother, Eugene Hasse; and her son-in-law, James Dickenson.

Viewing for Inez will be from 10:00AM-5:00PM, Friday, June 16th at Vancouver Funeral Chapel, 110 E. 12th St., Vancouver, Washington. A graveside service will take place privately.
