He lived in Camas, Washington his whole life, having graduated from Evergreen High School in 1954. He attended Washington State University for almost four years until he was drafted and joined the Air Force.
Ferris, known as “Gene,” to family and friends, was a “renaissance man” with a passion for life. Gene received a track scholarship to Washington State University, where he was a valued member of the track team. He was an accomplished pilot, had a love for mountain climbing and dancing, as well as white water rafting. Gene loved to golf and was a member of the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Marana, Arizona. He also enjoyed camping, trail-riding, trout fishing, snow skiing, traveling, and was a fan of MMA.
Gene was a housing developer and contractor for over 50 years.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Patricia Ann; sons, Lucas (Juvy) English of Camas, WA, Steve English of Honolulu, HI, Greg Gecho of Vancouver, WA, Peter Gecho of Camas, WA; daughter Stacie Young of Bakersfield, CA ; sister, Nancy of Solana Beach, CA; grandchildren, Autumn and Marcus English, four nieces and two nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ferris and Vida, daughter Lisa English and brother, Carl English.
There will be a visitation for Gene this Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 10am to 4pm at Vancouver Funeral Chapel, 110 E. 12th St., Vancouver, WA. A funeral service, Friday, September 21, 2012, at 10:00am at the mausoleum at Northwood Park Cemetery, 16407 Northeast 15th Ave., Ridgefield, WA 98642 and then a Celebration of Life/Retirement Party on October 14, 2012 at 24514 NE Dresser Rd, Camas, WA 98607 from 2-6pm.
