Lifelong Clark County resident, Donald G. Reese, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on June 26, 2012. Don was born in Ridgefield, WA where he attended school and graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1949.
He married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn "Dolly" Bartel, on May 24, 1952.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Don worked for several notable Clark County businesses, including Swift and Co. and Alcoa, before eventually starting Donald G. Reese Construction.
He was a longtime and active parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Don was an avid hunter, gardener and loved clamming at Long Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn of Vancouver, WA; children, Katherine (Gordon) Ostreim of Ridgefield, Matthew of Vancouver, Colleen (Carl) Keller of Hockinson, WA, Maureen (Peter) Keller of Vancouver, Steven (Becky) of Ridgefield, and Rebecca (Win) Stapper of Ridgefield; sister, Shirley (Lloyd) Nelson of Ridgefield; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Dennis; his parents, Charles and Amelia Reese; and brothers, Harvey and Charles.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Fri., July 6 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 8701 NE 119th St., Vancouver. Mass will be preceded by a praying of the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon will be served in the parish hall following the services.
Donations may be made in Don's memory to the Arc of Clark County or Kaiser Hospice.
