David J. Bauman, 88, of Vancouver was called by his Lord and Savior April 8, 2014, at Ray Hickey Hospice House. He was born October 28, 1925 in Vancouver the son of Charles F. and Clara Bracher Bauman.
David was raised on a small farm in the Salmon Creek area. He attended Salmon Creek grade school and Shumway Junior High and was graduated with the class of 1943 from Vancouver High School. He attended a small junior college, spent one year at Linfield College in McMinnville, transferred to the University of Washington in Seattle where he graduated with his B.A. In 1947.
On June 26, 1948, David married the love of his life, Lois Read, in Seattle, Washington.
David worked as a meteorological hydrologist for NOAA, retiring in 1980. He was a member of many organizations including: NARFE, the Gideons , and the American Meteorological Society where he was a past president. He did much work with two Norwegian organizations: Sons of Norway and Totenlag where he was also a past president.
David is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Janet (Dennis) Phillips, Allen (Leslie) Bauman and Mark (Reagan) Bauman; and grandchildren, Will Phillips, Jennie Phillips, Allison Phillips, Ian Phillips, Laura Bauman and Charlie Bauman.
A memorial service for David will be held May 3, 1:30 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 905 NW 94th St., Vancouver, WA 98665. Interment took place privately at Northwood Park Cemetery.
