Cleo H. (Phelps) Schneider passed away peacefully at the age of 95 in Vancouver, WA. Born October 24, 1918, the third of 13 children of John and Ora Phelps in Republic, WA. Her father worked in several areas in the northwest before settling on a farm in Monitor, OR in 1927, where she met Edward Schneider, a neighboring farmer.
Cleo and Ed were married in 1936. They farmed near Yoder until 1949 when they moved to Tualatin, OR and purchased their own farm. They resided there until 1997 before moving to a retirement community in Tigard. After Edward’s death in 1997, Cleo remained there until 2008 when she moved into the Loving Care Adult Foster Home in Vancouver, WA.
Cleo retired from Tektronix after working there 10 years as an electronics technician. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, bird watching, playing pinochle and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
Cleo and Ed had three sons, Verne, Gary and Dennis and one daughter, Kathryn. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn, in 1959, son, Verne in 1968, husband, Edward in 1997, six sisters and four brothers. She is survived by sons, Gary (Jackie) of Ontario, OR, Dennis, of Vancouver, WA; daughter-in-law, Carol Goff, of Vancouver, WA; sister, Lela Palmer, of Gresham, OR; brother, Richard Phelps (Linda), of Prineville, OR; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
