Ying Tin Lai

Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023, at the age of 91 at Richmond Hospital, Richmond, Canada, she was surrounded by her family in her final days.

She fought extremely hard to gain recovery from her major heart operation in 2015 and from COVID in 2022 to be able to spend more time with her family. She lived a full life until the end.

She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her 7 children, Hung Kong, Albert, Georgina, Sharette, Zillah, Daffy and Loratta, 11 grandchildren, Kelvin, Emily, Cheryl, Ruby, Donald, Jonathan, Jason, Casey, Caris, Natalie, and Marcus and 5 great grandchildren, Giselle, Hayden, Tinsley, Tyson, and Luna.

She was born in Singapore and moved to Hong Kong with her family in her young age. She married the love of her life for over 70 years. During their marriage, she was a loving and devoted wife in every way. A wonderful, loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her departure is a great loss to the family, and she will be deeply missed by her family and by many she touched during her life.

Our mother was a very traditional woman, but she was courageous and witty with a good memory. Before her retirement, she worked for many years providing financial services in the local community. She was well known in her community. She was also a pioneer in her generation who took a keen interest in stock trading and was designated a VIP trading room at a local bank. She was also very health conscious and had practiced “Luk Tung Kuen” exercise for many years.

In her 80’s, she emigrated to Canada together with her husband, they spent their final years there. She was a very kind person, polite, considerate, and compassionate, who always cared for other people first. She was an adorable person and was loved by many.

A private family funeral service will be held at Mount Pleasant Universal Funeral Home, 306 East 11th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C., V5T 2C6. Visitation on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, beginning at 10:00 am (receiving family members from 9:30am), followed by the Graveside Service at the Ocean View Cemetery, 3883 Rumble Street, Burnaby, B.C. V5J 1Z5 by noon.
