September 21, 1939 – April 8, 2017
Vincent passed away on April 8, 2017 at home in Vancouver with his family by his side after a positive and high spirited battle with colon cancer. He was born in Hong Kong to Kwan Yin-Tat and Kwan Po-Fun along with his older sisters Pauline, Grace, and Irene. After graduating from St. Joseph’s College, Vincent went on to study Architecture at The University of Hong Kong and graduated with honours in 1966. He subsequently immigrated to Vancouver where he started a family with his late wife Janet and helped shape the skyline that we all enjoy today. After starting his own architecture firm in Vancouver in 1972, Vincent’s success in the industry was evident in the many Canadian design awards he received. Aside from his architectural achievements, Vincent contributed actively to the community, sitting on the Boards of numerous associations and working with various charitable organizations throughout his life, making the city a better place. In his later years, Vincent’s passion and interest in art, Chinese culture, philosophy, and perspective on life kept him active and even inspired him to write his own book. Vincent was a loving father and caring husband whose love knew no bounds, he will be deeply missed by his wife Fiona and children Monique, Jason, and Veneta. A Visitation will be held at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC on Tuesday, April 18th, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, where the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 19th, 2017 at 9:30 am with cremation to follow.
