Thelma Winifred Stevens, 97, passed away on December 15, 2022. Born to L. George Stevens and Nellie (Adcock) Stevens, who made their way to Canada from England after travelling to New Zealand, settling in Vancouver. She was a child of the depression and lost her father from pneumonia, when she was very young. She was then raised by her mother who was unable to work much of the time, so Thelma left high school to start at the BC Brush company which then became the Brodie Brush Company. Her title was secretary but she did payroll and much more. She spoke fondly of those 40 years. She made more than 100 blood donations and served the Arthritis Society, the BC Cancer Society and worked at Pearson Hospital. She was active in St Thomas Anglican Church, Vancouver and was an avid walker her entire life. Thelma was predeceased by her parents, and by her fiancé, Leslie Smith in 1970. Thelma will be missed by her Goddaughter Ann Knutson (Carmen), Jane Forgay (Dave DeVidi) and their families, and close friends Richard and Jeannine Anstee, who were very attentive to Thelma in her later years. She will also be missed by her friends at Southview Terrace. We wish to thank staff at Burnaby Hospital 2A and Palliative Care for the wonderful care of Thelma. As requested by Thelma, there will be no funeral service.
