Sophia Mihailides

On the morning of November 29th, we lost our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, wife and friend, Sophia Mihailides (Avramides). Childhood friends with Theo since 1942, Sophia came to Canada in 1959 to join her soon to be husband. Theo, who immigrated to Canada in 1951, has his mother (Sophia) to thank for recognizing that he needed a pen pal in the girl next door. She saw that they were destined to be lovebirds and her intuition was right. Theo proposed in a letter, and they have been inseparable ever since. They went on to have five children - Cathy, Anna (late), Louie (Kirsten), Fay and Brian (Laura) - along with seven beloved grandchildren. They have enjoyed a fruitful life of family, travel and great friendships together. Sophia will be greatly missed!!

Sophia will be celebrated with a funeral service at St. Nicholas and Dimtrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4541 Boundary Road, East Vancouver on Friday, December 8th at 3:30pm. A celebration of her life will follow at the Terminal City Club, 837 West Hastings Street, Vancouver at 5:30pm. (Light refreshments will be offered).
