It is with great sadness we advise of the passing of Robert Dennis Almazan, affectionately known as ‘Lanky’. Robert passed away on October 22 at North Shore Hospice. He was born to his late parents Felix Feurtes and Mildred (nee Lewis) Almazan on January 15, 1950 in Winslow, Kitsap County, Wa., USA – he was 71 years young.
Robert was raised in Bainbridge County, Wa. and attended Captain Charles Wilkes Elementary School, Commodore Middle School and Bainbridge High School. In his late teens he moved to his traditional Squamish homelands and lived with relatives from Seymour to Cheekeye. Robert loved fishing the Squamish River with his Lewis cousins. Robert worked in the fishing industries/canneries in Alaska, Bainbridge and Seattle, and with Edgemont Movers. He loved to cook, had a great sense of humour and easily made friends.
Robert resided in Seymour IR No. 2 with his loving sister Marlene. He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his children Devina Leigh Washington, Jyana Marie Almazan (Talmdge), Robert Damien Almazan Jr., Jeremy Felix Almazan, Justin Crispin Almazan; grandchildren Julia Lauren Almazan, Marcus & Michael Williams, Tyanna & Miles Washington, Robert Almazan III & Robert Almazan IV, Olani Aquino; siblings Doreen Rapada, Kashmira Ann Almazan, Felix Allen Almazan (Judy), Charlene Ruth Ives (Gary), Marlene Almazan; and many loving relatives and dear friends.
