Dear Uncle Paul,

One year ago today, we attended your funeral.  It was so hard to believe that you were gone.

You were a wonderful man, and a source of much happiness to us and many. Your kindness will never be forgotten and you will be missed always.  Every day, you are in our fondest thoughts.

My dearest Dad,

On this special day of Chinese New Year and Mother's 84th birthday, it's very difficult to accept that you are no longer with us. I looked back the photos and videos from last year's elaborate celebration with the entire LAU family, they not only brought back good memories, but also tears streaming down my face. 

During the wake, the funeral and post matters, I was too busy attending to the logistics that I didn't really allow myself to grieve and mourn your passing. Now more than a month later, back to the freezing-cold Ottawa, and after the rest of the family are slowly coming to terms with the tremendous loss, I am starting to grieve, to cope and most wantingly, to say a proper farewell to you.

The outpouring of sympathy and heartfelt eulogies that you have received since your parting have been of some consolation, but the real comfort came from your phenomenal 'Life Story' written by Uncle Gabe, as well as the 'Fond Memories' by your sons and daughters along with their spouses and children, not to mention other members of the LAU family. These will no doubt serve as a constant reminder of how well-loved, respected and liked you were, and still are, forever in our hearts.

I know, in your very special, unique way, how much you loved Mom, but I don't want you to worry about her, as she is well looked after, and you would be pleased to know that the recent lab test results showed that she's in pretty good health, except her sugar level which is being closely monitored and treated. If you are looking for sugar in your coffee, please go to Tim Horton's or McDonald's, as Luke & Mavis had thrown away every bit of it in the house. Also, next time you talk to Mom, please remind her not to be so stubborn, and should listen to those who care about her.

Again Dad, thank you for paving a smooth path to a comfortable life-long journey for me, providing me with guidance, support and unconditional love. I hope no matter where you are,  you can still feel how much I miss you, love you, respect you, and how much I am proud to be your daughter.

Until we meet again, you will always live in my heart...

My Grandfather was truly an amazing individual.  From his first ventures to Canada, to bringing his entire family over, to catching fish that were half his size. It saddens me that his is gone from us, but I know that he is always with us and watching over us.  

He had a one of a kind soul that was beautiful and loving.  I will truly miss him and I wish I had the chance to see him one more time.  

I miss you and love you Ah Gong.

We are sorry to hear that Mr. Lau left us. Even though Sylvie and I never met him in Vancouver before, from what we know about Al and Fanny we can see what a great person he is, he must always tought Al and Fanny good samples, that is the reason why they are also so nice, caring and generous to us and other friends. 

He will be in our thoughts and prayers.

As I stated in the eulogy for my eldest brother, Paul Ping Wing Lau,
I would like to repeat:

Paul was a visionary and pioneer.  If it had not been for his influence,
most of us might not have been here in Canada today.

We are indebted to you and we will miss you.

I came to know Uncle Lau more when I first visited Vancouver in 1981.   On arrival his warm welcome and hospitality blocked the really chilly December weather outside.

He was friendly, open minded and had a full sense of humour.  It made chatting  with him a pleasant experience.

In the late 80's and 90's, opportunities were given to me to come and stay in Vancouver.  At that time, we were more ignorant and innocent than anything, with his profound knowledge and enthusiasm, uncle was always ready to extend his helping hands and give advice so that anything could be made possible.

He was a treasure not only to auntie and family but also everyone acquainted with him.

Though he will leave us for now, his spirit will be in our memory forever.

Mr. Lau Ping Wing , a kind-hearted elderly whom we love and respect, had left us. We would like to give our best regards to his family, hoping they can recover from sorrow. May God be with him and let him rest in peace.

Ah Ba...Gong Gong, We LOVE YOU!

Mr. Lau was my father-in-law, and after my parents were deceased, he became like a real dad to me: like letting me to use his car and paid for fueling up.  He left me with the deep impression that he's always there, kind, generous, humourous, and easy to converse with.

We're relieved that while on bed, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour on Jan04 after David prayed with him. He nodded his head twice to express he has the Salvation.  He was then baptized by the sprinkling of water on his head.  We are looking forward to that day when the dead will be resurrected and the living will be caught up in the sky to meet his and my Lord God.  Then we'll spend eternity together surfing the clouds, fishing in the heavenly ponds, and eating steamed rockcod with the angels around him.

Mr. Lau Ping Wing, was one of our closest relatives who worked and lived in Vancouver far far away. Although the time we spent with Mr. Lau together was limited, his kindness, generosity, caring, sense of humour, systemic character and the expertise in fishing deeply impressed us all in Hong Kong. We would like to express our deepest condolences to Mrs. Lau and her family. 
May our beloved uncle Mr. Lau Ping Wing rest in peace.

Mr. Lau was the first person I met when I landed in Vancouver on Aug. 11, 1972. He and Mrs. Lau took me in like one of their own and he was one of the greatest people that I met all these years. My condolence to Mrs. Lau and his family for losing such a great husband and father.
