Gill, Phyllis Charlotte (Hughes) October 16, 1920 – May 9, 2023
It is with sadness and love that we announce the passing of Phyllis at the age of 102. She is survived by her son Wayne, grandson Christopher (Marilyn), granddaughter Jennifer (Adam), daughter-in-law’s Shaundehl (Mike) and Kirsti (Garth), and great granddaughters Elise and Keira. She was predeceased by her husband George (2011), her son Warren (2010), daughter-in-law Susan (2019) and brother George (1987). Phyllis was born in Vancouver and spent her childhood years at the family home at 19th and Dunbar. She married George on September 19, 1942. In 1952 they purchased a home at 2542 Oliver Crescent where they lived until George passed away in 2011. Phyllis worked at Woodward’s Oakridge department store in the jewelry department for 25 years and was very knowledgeable on fine jewelry and watches. Phyllis and George purchased a vacation property on Green Lake in the Cariboo in 1967 and it was always a special place for them and their family. Phyllis had a passion for cruise ship holidays and she enjoyed many trips with George, family and friends. Phyllis was a fantastic and loving Mom to Warren and Wayne. Phyllis will be always known for her pleasant personality and her positive outlook on life, she will be sorely missed by her extended family and friends. Thanks to all the staff at the Tapestry UBC where Phyllis was a resident for the past eleven years. In lieu of flowers Phyllis requested that donations be made to the Dr. Warren Gill Memorial Fund at Simon Fraser University
