She was predeceased by her husband, Kwok Bing. Surviving Man Mui are her younger sister, younger brother, three sons, two daughters, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Man Mui grew up in Canton, then moved to Hong Kong, where she worked as a cook for a textile company. Her love for cooking continued when she moved to Canada in 1985. Living in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown, she fast became known as “zhong mo”. Family, friends, and neighbours would order Chinese daikon and taro cake and 年糕 from her during Chinese New Year, and 糭子 from her during 端午節.
In her free time, she enjoyed walking around Chinatown and spending time with family and friends. Her interests included watching Cantonese Opera, helping others in need, and singing old village songs.
