On behalf of Squamish Nation Council, Band Manager and Member Support it is with great sadness we advise of the passing of Lynda Louise Nahanee (nee Rogers). Lynda is predeceased by her parents Bertrand August & Violet Victoria (nee: Hamilton) Rogers and passed away in Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver on July 19, 2019. Our sincere condolences to the Hamilton, Rogers and Nahanee Family.
Lynda grew up on the North Shore where she loved to roller skating and hang out at the Stardust Roller Rink. In the mid 60’s she married Edward Douglas Nahanee and raised their family on Mission IR No.1. She worked at Lions Gate Hospital as a dietitian for over 20 years and resided on the Capilano Indian Reserve with her daughter and her favourite place to be was the Casino. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her children Kelly Robert Jacks, Jackie-Lyn Carol Nahanee, Stephanie Gail Nahanee and Natasha Louise Nahanee (Peter); grandchildren Darien Taylor Paull-Nahanee (Paul), Mason Kirk Gamley (Melissa), Joshua John Jacks; brother Teddy Rogers (Marie); and sister Dorothy Elisabeth Woodbourn.
A Catholic / Shaker funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 31, 2019 at Chief Joe Mathias Centre at 10:30 am with a cremation to follow. On line condolences can be found at www.dignitymemorial.ca.
