Lucila Gellecanao Clement, age 91, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born on October 31, 1928 in Iloilo City, Philippines. She worked at the Philippine Air Force 209th Supply Squadron as an Aircraft Parts and Materiel Librarian and Research Specialist before her emigration to Canada. After her arrival in Canada, she worked at Four Season’s Hotel Housekeeping Department until her retirement. She was also active in the Legion of Mary at St Andrew’s Church’s in Vancouver until health concerns impeded her mobility to attend the meetings.
Lucila is predeceased by her husband Antonio Clement and survived by her two siblings, Patria and Amancio; her 8 children, Reno, Ramon, Rowen, Tony, Rory, Rene, Theresa, and Jun; 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
A Private Family Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2020 and a Private Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings Street in Vancouver. Interment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, in Burnaby.
Due to the government imposed Covid-19 restrictions, the celebration of Lucila’s life is temporarily on hold until further notice. Once the restrictions are lifted by the appropriate authorities, her celebration of life will be announced by the family on a later date.
