It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lloy Agnes White (neé McDougall). She passed away peacefully, but not without a fight, at the age of 91 at Normanna Care Facility on Monday May 15, 2023 with her daughter Cindy and Rick by her side. She will forever live on in our hearts and memories.
Lloy was born in Edmonton Alberta on August 9, 1931. What a glorious day that was! Her family later moved to BC. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Nana, Aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her children; Cindy (Rick) and Darin (Cynthia), and her 3 grandchildren; Justice, Jaxson and Jesse. Whom she loved dearly. As well as many, many nieces and nephews who’s lives she’s touched.
She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Jim, in 2002, after 49 years of marriage. Also, by her Dad (Donald), and her Mom (Agnes), as well as her brothers; Tom, Cecil and Don, and sisters; Dorothy (Dodi), Loretta, Jean, and Pat (Nisha). Lloy was the last of the Donald and Agnes McDougall clan. Many, many McDougall’s live on.
Lloy started her working career at a very young age as a Page girl at the Royal Bank. She later then met Jim. He was a logger. They married the morning of July 18, 1953. Sometime after that he was stationed in Powell River and Pender Harbour. Mom gave up the Royal Bank and accompanied Jim to the logging camp. Mom experienced camp life and soon realized she was a city girl through and through. Jim decided to change careers and started with Greyhound Bus Lines. Mom then went on to CIBC, where she had a long and successful career. She worked her way up in a male dominant industry to Manager of Human Resources in the Data Centre. She was loved and respected by all that she worked with. She was with CIBC for 39 years until her retirement. Mom passed on her strong work ethics to Darin and Cindy.
Lloy truly touched so many lives. She was strong, intelligent, classy, loved her bling, dancing, music and family, especially her kids! She was a force to be reckoned with when it came to Darin and Cindy. She left an impression on everyone that had the privilege of knowing her.
How do you sum up someone’s life in a few paragraphs? Please feel free to post any memories, photos, thoughts and fun stories you may have of our sweet Mom. We’d love to hear them.
We thank you and are so grateful to everyone that has reached out with their condolences, thoughts, prayers, and flowers, etc. We’re truly grateful for all of your love and support. It shows the love everyone had for our Mom.
Many, many thanks to all the staff at Normanna for the care, friendship and community they provided Lloy in her final years, especially in her final days and hours. As well as during Covid, where they kept Lloy safe all throughout the pandemic, and for that we are truly grateful to them all. More grateful than you’ll ever know.
At this time the funeral arrangements have yet to be determined.
