Lee, Ken Kon Kuen. Born on December 16, 1933 in Canton, China. Passed away March 27, 2011 at his home in Vancouver. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Siu Yu, in 2003 and is lovingly remembered by his children Doris (Michael), Andrew (Lorrie) and Grace (Sion), and his 4 grandchildren Caitlin, Justin, Adam and Cameron. Ken spent most of his childhood in Macau. He moved to Canada in 1952, where he worked with his father selling produce. He married Siu Yu in 1964 and ran a corner store for many years in North Vancouver. After starting a family, Ken sold the store and worked for MacMillan Bloedel as a millworker and later a lumber grader for almost 30 years. After Siu Yu’s passing in 2003, Ken returned to school and completed his high school diploma where he was the second oldest graduate at his convocation ceremony in March 2007. Following this, he took many courses at UBC with his younger brother, Bill. In recent years, Ken enjoyed traveling (e.g. Alaska and China), playing Ping Pong, practising Tai Chi, taking Chinese courses in various subjects and enjoying his life to the fullest with his children, grandchildren, and his siblings and extended family.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday April 5th at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings, in Vancouver. Interment will follow (12:30 pm) at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby. A lunch to celebrate his life will take place at Sun Sui Wah Restaurant at 3888 Main Street.
