A son, a brother, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a friend….John was many things to many people
John was born premature & was a little guy for quite a time. I remember mom telling us how she put him in the turkey roaster to keep him warm in the oven.
John, my twin sister and I were the three musketeers … blonde, haired, blue-eyed, same size, we looked like triplets, until about age 12 and then the teenage hormones took over and John began to sprout
As siblings do - we grew up & we went our separate ways. I moved to Calgary in 1983 & then in 1986 John moved to Calgary – then in Oct 1987 I moved to BC. I invited John to join me in BC in 2000.
Since that time he’s been my rock he’s been there for me & my kids. It didn’t matter what I needed or what the kids needed.
My son Bruce wrote the following:
Life has its good times and it’s hard times. Over the years John has experienced both. The courage and strength he has put into his life to over come some of the battles is over the top commendable. Anyone that knows him will say he’s not always the nicest person, how ever the same people would say that he would give his last dollar to you and the shirt off his back if it meant it would get you through another day. My personal experience with my uncle just off the top of head is that without him I would have not had a male role model growing up to show me how to charge a tire, how to change the oil in a vehicle, how to be the person someone can count on no matter the situation. He was tough asshole at times but at the end of the day no matter what - he was there. Don’t care what negative things people can say about my uncle no matter what he was there for me with open arms, ears, with no judgement and for that I thank him. We have lost an amazing man and I just wanted to share my experience with my uncle.
Rip John u will be missed.
