John was a fearless adventurer, who traveled all over and never stopped being interested in the world around him. He had a strong passion for the environment, which led him to go back to school and work hard to make changes in his field of mining. He didn't ask for acknowledgement and was a great team player.
He loved sailing and cycling and was an avid mountaineer in his younger years. Even though he had to slow down as his pulmonary fibrosis progressed, he maintained a cheerful attitude and tried to stay as active as he could.
John will be remembered and missed by his wife, daughter and son in law, much beloved granddaughters and anyone who called him a friend.
After a stay in hospital, John succumbed to his disease on Dec 22, 2022. Should anyone wish, they can make a donation in his name to St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, where they carry out research on pulmonary fibrosis and John received his final care.
