April 21, 1931 – April 23, 2017
Helen Langton (nee Driedger) was born in Rosthern Saskatchewan, raised in Swift Current and moved to Vancouver when she was 16 years old. She worked at CP Telegraph where she met the love of her life, Fred Langton, at the tender age of 17. Over the next seven decades they raised four children, welcomed our four partners into the family and were excited Grandparents at the arrival of each of their seven grandchildren. They lived in Vancouver, Los Angeles and Keremeos and made life-long friends wherever they went.
Mom’s greatest accomplishment was her children and as kids we knew we were loved from the moment we took our first breaths. She never played favourites and made sure we knew she was proud of us all. We adored her.
Mom’s outlook on life was simple, it was about family and extended family. Everyone who walked through our door was welcome and felt at home so our house was filled with friends of all ages and the laughter that went with it.
She was kind, unselfish, fun-loving and had a huge capacity for compassion. We will love and miss her always. Helen leaves behind Fred, her husband of 66 years, Debbie (Frans), Bob (Carolyn), Linda (Brad), Donna-Lee (Terry) and grandchildren Jesse, Sarah, Brent, Scott, Elaine, Michael and Derrick.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held in June. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Alzheimer’s Society in her name. www.alzheimerbc.org.
Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, Vancouver, BC.
