Evaline Lucinda Turner of Vancouver, passed away July 2, 2022 at the age of 63 years. Lucinda is lovingly remembered by her children; Sarah (Nelvin), Katrina (Nick Liu) and Austin (Maria) as well as the father of her children Tony Woo. She will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren Alice, Evan and Charlie. Lucinda will be missed by her sisters Helen and Maureen and her brother John, other family members and her many friends in her personal life and in the art community.
Lucinda worked tirelessly to track and challenge fraudulent Indigenous art, including images and works appropriated without permission on merchandise such as masks, T-shirts, and luggage. She drew attention to the illicit trade and helping Indigenous artists reclaim their copyright.
Lucinda was also an accomplished artist in her own right, having apprenticed with Nisg'a sculptor Norman Tait creating many masterpieces that we will treasure for years to come.
In these difficult days of Covid, Lucinda’s family is having a private funeral. However, we would like to share the service on-line with their mother’s artistic community so that everyone will be able to attend in spirit.
