Eric (Charles) Godman passed away peacefully on August 28, at the age of 91 at George Derby Centre in Burnaby, BC. Predeceased by his father Thomas and mother Anna, and sisters Patricia and Louise. Survived by his loving family: wife Barbara and sons Peter and Paul. Lovingly remembered by daughter-in-law Jacqueline, grandchildren Elliot, Jonathan, Nicole and Benjamin, and nieces and nephews Joan, Anne, Susan, Chris, Michael, Robin, Renee, Deborah, Kate and Ken.
Eric completed a Diploma with Honours at the Ontario College of Art, and was an instructor at the Ryerson Institute of Technology before marrying Barb in 1956 in Toronto. The newlyweds came west on their honeymoon, eventually settling in Burnaby. After completing his Bachelor of Education at UBC, he taught art and ceramics at King George, Killarney, and Vancouver Technical Secondary Schools.
Remembered as a skilled artist with a love of ceramics and sculpture, Eric was also an avid canoeist who loved the outdoors and enjoyed time spent gardening and growing his beloved tomatoes. He will be greatly missed by his family. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at George Derby for their care and support.
