We are saddened to announce that Elisabeth passed away peacefully Saturday night August 26 at age 79 at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital. She is survived and loved by her four children Maria, Bruno, Richard, and Theresa and grandchildren Alana, Xavier, Mattias and Tavia who will miss her dearly. Elisabeth Lange was born December 18,1943 in Silesia, Germany and immigrated west after World War II ended. As a young woman she immigrated to Canada where she met her husband Karl Lange, and together they had 4 children, Maria, Bruno, Richard and Theresa. Sadly, Karl passed away 9 years ago on July 18, 2014. Mom always had an open table and a warm smile to those who stopped by. Her cooking and baking were a treasure that many have enjoyed immensely. Her garden produce supplied much of her tables fair with fresh ingredients that she used to make delicious German dishes, fruit pies and cakes. She was active in the church; joining the Ladies Auxiliary at Corpus Christi Parish in the 70’ and 80’s. At Saint Mary's Parish (Vancouver) she opened her heart to the poor and needy as a member of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and encouraged her children to do the same. We are confident that God will smile on her life of service. Prayers will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Parish, 5251 Joyce, Vancouver, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Entombment to follow at 1:30 pm at Ocean View Burial Park's South Mausoleum, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.
Prayer of St. Francis
Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me bring your love. Where there is injury, Your pardon, Lord. And where there’s doubt, true faith in you. Make me a channel of your peace. Where there’s despair in life, Let me bring hope, Where there is darkness only, Light. Oh, master, grant that I may never seek. So much to be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love, with all my soul. Make me a channel of your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, In giving to men that we receive, and in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
