It’s with great sadness that we announce that Edward (Ted) Walter French passed away on September 15, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He went peacefully at the highest point on the Coquihalla with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Candra (Christopher) Holmes and Nancy (Jake) Thomas; Step-daughters, Lorinda Banks and Lesley Banks; Grandchildren, Malcolm, Gabriel, Maguire, Paitton, Sophie and Joey; Sister in Law, Maxine French; Sister, June (Don) Bekar; plus his nieces, nephews and cousins. Ted has gone on to be with his parents, Walter and Annie French, and his brother John Russell French.
Ted was born on July 6, 1944 in Nelson BC. He then moved to Burnaby, BC after meeting his wife, Joan, in 1989. Ted was a truck driver and retired after dealing with some health issues. Ted enjoyed visiting with friends and going for walks. In one summer, Ted did the Grouse Grind 11 times. Ted dreamed of becoming a snowbird, however, his illness took him before he could realize this dream. Throughout Ted’s life, he was a kind and generous man, always helping others when they were in need.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, a gift in memory may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, Vancouver, BC.
