Chung Yin Leong was born on July 11th 1913. He went to Strathcona Elementary School in Chinatown. At the age of 11 in 1924, his father moved the family of seven to Guangdong China. In 1933, he married Ho Sou Jun. Attended Pu Ching Middle School where he studied wireless radio operation. Because of his knowledge of English, the American army to serve as their translator and radio operator quickly recruited him. The war took him to many places in China, as far away as Sichuan province. Travelling at night to avoid enemy planes and resting during the day. After the war, he returned to Guangdong. Cheryl was born in 1942, 5 years later Joe was born and then, Wendy in 1949. In 1950, he along with 2 nephews Ben and Sonny boarded the SS Gordon General for San Francisco and arrived in Vancouver by train. In 1956, his mother, wife, and three children joined him in Vancouver. He worked at Canada Tungsten and Keno Mine in Northwest Territory. The job kept him away from his family, but he never complaint. He retired in 1980. He enjoyed spending time with family. He was a very good swimmer and can be found at his favorite swimming pool Riley Park every day.
