KATSIONIS, Chrisoula, although small in stature was a tough, independent, loving mother, indulgent yiayia and free spirited peri-yiayia who now joins her beloved husband, Kyriakos, in eternity. She was a rare combination of love, grit and pride who although physically compromised was sharp and unbending to the end. Chrisoula was a strong-willed lady who enjoyed life, her family and many friends. She is survived by her son Peter (Maria), daughter Vicki (Charles), grandchildren Matthew, David, Carrie Anne and Jeffrey (Shauna) and great grandchildren Elizabeth and Penelope. Chrisoula was part of a close family anchored by her brothers Angelo (Panayiota) and Jim (Calliope). Chrisoula adored her nieces and nephews and had a wide circle of friends who never failed to call or visit.
Chrisoula was born in Sikea, Laconia, Greece to Alexander and Stamatiki Graffos in 1930. She came to Canada to marry Kyriakos and eventually created a family with him. Chrisoula worked multiple jobs, sometimes simultaneously, and she is well-known in Vancouver’s Greek community as the premier seamstress of drapery. In retirement she doted on her loved ones and lived an independent life for many years after the untimely passing of Kyriakos. We lay her to rest knowing that 3 things last forever: faith, hope and love; but the greatest of them all is love.
Prayer service will be on Thursday, January 12th at 7:30 pm at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4500 Arbutus St. Vancouver where a funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13th.
