With the saddest of hearts the family of Cheryl Lee Shaw formally announce her sudden passing at the end of 2014. Pre-deceased by her parents Roland and Eileen Shaw, she is survived by her dearest sister Candice Lewis, brother-in-law Greg, her beloved golden retrievers Roxy and Levi and her extended family; Aunt Alice Clarke and her three sons, Doug (Shannon), Dan (Diane) and Brad. Uncle Ralph Shaw his wife Elaine and their three daughters, Linnea (Cliff), Leanne (David) and Melanie and Cousins Christine Hart (George), Lester (Lynn) and Grant (Karen).
Cheryl was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba where after university she slowly moved west. After a stay in Edmonton she settled in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, most recently making Delta her home.
As a professional in the insurance industry Cheryl earned the reputation of a respected leader, coach and mentor.
Cheryl’s accomplishments in the dog world include decades of successful breeding, showing, judging and deep lasting friendships.
In her personal life her many passions included gardening, travel, visiting with her friends and neighbours and spending time with Roxy and Levi.
The consummate adventurer her travels took her to Africa, Australia, Europe, China, South America as well as on the open road in her RV throughout the United States and Canada.
Cheryl is deeply missed by her friends, family, many work colleagues, her numerous dog show friends and her very special neighbours.
Anyone who met Cheryl was quickly impressed by her quick wit, her infectious smile and a laugh that was unforgettable. She made friends easily and would do anything for her friends.
“From quiet homes and first beginning, out to the undiscovered ends, there's nothing worth the wear of winning, but laughter and the love of friends.”
Hilaire Belloc
At Cheryl’s request there was no formal service, but rather a small gathering for close friends and family to honour her life.
Her dog show friends have arranged a celebration of her life the weekend of the Renaissance Dog shows in Chilliwack in April 2015.
In lieu of flowers and for those who wish to contribute to her enduring legacy please consider a donation to the Painted Dog Conservation for the preservation of the endangered African wild dogs at http://www.painteddog.org/ .
