It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helena Chau Ping Ma, age 75, on Monday, July 15, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Helena was born on October 18, 1943, in Hong Kong to Cheng Kong Ching and Cheung Lai Hing. On February 28, 1966, she married Ma Pui Hung and immigrated to Vancouver, BC to start a family. She worked for 28 years at Canada Post in downtown Vancouver where she made lifelong friends and retired in 2000. Helena was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother always putting family first. An amazing cook, she will be forever remembered as hard-working, generous, and loyal to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Helena was predeceased by her mother and father, and by her son, Gabriel. She is survived by her beloved husband, Pui Hung; daughter, Venice (Murray); daughter-in-law Natasha; and grandchildren Jaden, Reilly, Ella and Brynn. She will be sorely missed by her large extended family across the globe. A Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22nd between 6:30-8:30pm at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 E Hastings St, Vancouver, BC where a Funeral Service will be held at Glenhaven on Tuesday, July 23 at 10am with Interment following at Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial St, Burnaby, BC. The Ma family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice in Richmond, the nurses at Vancouver South Community Health Centre, the staff at Nancy Chan Palliative Clinic, and Dr. Hoskins and his colleagues at BC Cancer Agency for their attentiveness, compassion, and loving care.
