Carl was born on January 8, 1960 in Vancouver and lived at the family home in Burnaby his entire life. He was the youngest with 5 older brothers and sisters. His father, Alvin Lindstrom passed away in May 1962. Two siblings have also predeceased him: Donna in April 2012 and Gary in March 2015. He is survived by his mother, Jessie Lindstrom; two sisters, Sylvia and Laurel and a brother, Ralph.
Carl graduated from Burnaby Central Secondary in 1979. He had many interests and hobbies. He took piano lessons and achieved a Grade 10 Level. He also was a member of Vancouver Natural History Society and the Federation of BC Naturalists. He was a keen birder and hiked many areas recording and taking photos of birds. Carl had a great sense of humour and was the King of Puns.
He worked for A.C.E. Courier Services / West-East Canadian Courier from 1978 to 1989; then was employed by Angus Reid Group as a telephone interviewer for about 3 years.
Carl attended Douglas College from 1982-1996 where he earned an Associate Degree in General Studies and a Diploma of Arts. He then enrolled at SFU and in 2007 graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and in Political Science.

Carl also held many volunteer positions: Crisis Line Counsellor with Care-Line; Prison Ministry with Burnaby Christian Fellowship; Library Assistant with Greater Vancouver Mental Health, Northwest Baptist Theological College and IDERA. He was a keen educator who loved to share his knowledge and experience: he taught ESL and also tutored many young people as they prepared for high school and college entrance exams.
One of his favourite pastimes was reading, in particular books on the environment and philosophy. He was a regular member of a local Philosophy Reading Group.
Carl was a devoted Christian. He attended the New Westminster Evangelical Free Church since 2000. Prior to that, he was a member of similar churches in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
One of the verses from the Bible that inspired him was from James 3:17, New English Bible:
But the wisdom from above is in the first place pure; and then peace-loving, considerate, and open to reason; it is straight forward and sincere, rich in mercy and the kindly deeds that are its fruit.
Sadly, on April 17, 2021 Carl left us. All those who knew him will surely miss him. Carl was compassionate, thoughtful and filled with an enthusiasm for exploring ideas and learning.
