Carl Kor Leong

It is with great sadness that the family of Carl Kor Leong announce his passing on Dec 24, 2023. He died peacefully at the Villa Cathay care home where he had resided for the last few years of his life.

Carl was predeceased by his wife Gail Sun Yin Leong (June 25, 2021) and survived by their children, Judy, Brenda (Michel), Harvey and Doug ( Kelly), and grandchildren Sophie, Aidan, Jade and Keira as well as his sister Sarah (Terry).

Carl came from Canton China to Canada in his late teens and initially settled in Carmangay, Alberta with his grandfather and cousin. He later made his way to Calgary where he met and married his wife Gail of 64 years.

He was a devoted and loving husband and father and always put his family first. He made many sacrifices and worked long hours to ensure that his family lived in comfort and his children reached their educational and career aspirations.

He was well respected and active in the Chinese community in Calgary, serving on the Board of the Leong Association for many years.

In his later years he was able to enjoy cruising holidays with Gail and friends. He took pride maintaining an exceptional level of fitness by going to the gym every day - often the first one at the community center when doors opened and walking long distances on a daily basis.

He will be sadly missed.
