Edward passed away on December 27, 2013 due to surgery complications. To most people he was known as EDWARD BEAR and not many knew of his many names. He was a very proud man and extremely happy to know who he was and where he came from due to father, Douglas, entering Army in 1st Word War for Canada, they were stripped of Native Status. Only recently in late 90’s and still today family are endeavouring to regain Native status.
Edward grew up in Glen Mary, Kinistino, Sask.; Flin Flon, Man. As a young man he owned a horse who was grey & black named “Bud” who he rode bareback & proudly won championships with Bud & he would be quick to talk about him anytime.
He was also one of few children who owned a bicycle & even in later years always rode a bike to work in some of his jobs. He had a great love for bikes.
Edward worked as a farmer in his younger days around Glen Mary and Kinistino, Sask. He had spent quite a period of time with Midwest doing line cutting, staking claims, all around joe. He loved to work and was very ambitious and constantly would find some kind of employment.
He had opportunity to do some logging with his brothers Bobby & Jim in Flin Flon, Man.
He moved to Vancouver and would deliver flyers, newspapers, to driving fork lift for pressed wood company and only retired as they moved out of town for which he chose not to relocate with them..
One of his main hobbies was Hastings Race Track where he would meet brothers Bobby & Jim and sometimes Rod if he was in the city where they would surely enjoy themselves. He had many friends at the track as well.
He loved to babysit his nieces and nephews throughout the years and helped many staying with him to get on their feet. Thank you for being the kind and caring man as you showed throughout your life.
