Armando de Guzman Corona, age 73, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, February 17, 2024. in Richmond, British Columbia. He was born September 15, 1950, in Baguio City, Philippines to Jose and Zoila Corona and was the fifth of twelve siblings. He is survived by his wife Nelia, his two daughters Jacqueline and Diana, and the family dog, Maui.
Armando moved from the Philippines to Canada in 1974, landing in Winnipeg, Manitoba before moving permanently to BC. Armando was an Architect before moving to Canada; for many years he worked at the airport in baggage handling and cargo cleaning, later retiring and working part-time as a School Bus Attendant for children with disabilities, which he found fulfilling.
Armando was a true serviceman--entertaining, helping, and feeding others. He was a friend to all. You could always find him at Jericho Beach crabbing and fishing; at Hastings Horse Racing Track meeting with his friends; McDobnald beach letting Maui run free while he chats with the other dog owners; or at home watching TV or cooking up a feast. Chicharon was one of his specialties along with all other Ilocano foods which he loved to share with his friends and family.
He never wanted anyone to worry about him but was concerned about everyone else. he was independent and resilient in all aspects of his life up to the very last moment.
After a long healthcare journey, he can finally rest.
We will miss and cherish you and all the special moments we have together. We love you always, ayayaten da ka.
- Mama, Nana, Jacjqueline, and Maui "Buto".
