Angela (Flett) McKinney

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Angela McKinney.

Angela passed peacefully on June 23, 2023 at Eagle Ridge hospital. Angela was surrounded by her husband Liam and family in her final hours.

Angela leaves to mourne her passing her loving husband of 56 years Liam McKinney, 7 Children (2 predeceased) 13 Grand Children (1 predeceased) and 11 Great Grand Children. Angela was the eldest of 9 Children and was born November 9, 1948 in Portage LePrairie MB. Angela was Anishinaabe of Ojibway and Metis ancestry and a member of Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation.

She was the eldest of our family and a language keeper speaking both Saulteaux and Mischief languages. She was raised in Bacon Ridge and Winnipeg Manitoba and moved to Vancouver in 1966.

Angela had a career at Canada Post, working as a PO4 in the VMPP retiring in 2006 after 20+ years of service. Angela enjoyed her retirement years playing and helping raise her grandchildren. Her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy.
