Margaret Ilene Bate Stafford, 90, of Huber Heights, OH. and formerly of Vanceburg, died Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born February 17, 1921 in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late Harry Bate and Anna Blankenship Bate. She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Cody Stafford who died August 14, 1991. She was a homemaker and a member of the Vanceburg Christian Church. And prior to her marriage Margaret was employed by L.V. Marks Shoe Factory in Vanceburg, KY.
Margaret was in the second graduating class of Laurel High School in 1939, the school she attended was built by the WPA following the great depression.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda (Alan Marks) Stafford of Boca Raton, FL. Jeanne (Jack) Plummer of Huber Heights, OH. Sandra Jo (Frank LeCrichia) Kinsel of Boca Raton, FL. and Barbara (Howard) McCann of Huber Heighs, OH; four grandchildren, Stephen (Roxane Maroquin) Kinsel, Dave (Jennie) Hawley, Sarah (Dan) Herzer and Jason Plummer; three great-grandchildren, D.J. Hawley, Jenna Herzer and Tyler Herzer; and one sister-in-law, June Stafford Irwin of Middletown, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Joe Bate and Jim Bate; a sister, Robina Hughes; and a son-in-law, Kerby D. Kinsel.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at the Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Rev. Tom Cox will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memory Gardens, in Vanceburg. Pallbearers will be Dave Hawley, Jason Plummer, D.J. Hawley, Joe Bate, Dan Herzer, Rob Magi, Jan Kinsel and Kenny Claxon.
Visitation is 5 - 9 p.m., Thursday and 8 a.m. -1 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to the Vanceburg Christian Church, 408 Front Street, Vanceburg, Ky. 41179. Condolences may be made online to www.dickersonfh.com
