Shirley Ann Owens

Shirley Ann Owens, 72, of Mulberry, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 in Fort Smith. She was born December 8, 1950 in Dell, to the late Jessie and Georgia (Bush) Sides. She was taught Special Education for 29 years. She loved to crochet, sew, cook, camp, and fish. She was a loving, smart, stubborn, spit-fire of a woman who will be missed immensely.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Genevnie MayDene Jones.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years and the love of her life, James Owens of the home; five daughters, Carlotta Owens (Tom Luster) of Mulberry, Patricia Bartlett (Dallas) of Mulberry, Lisa Owens (Thomas Marshall) of Mulberry, Tammy Tindall (Mike) of Fort Smith, and Cindy Moore of Stigler; two brothers, Ben Sides (Soonya) of Hackett, and Bud Sides (Shari) of Tahlequah; a special sister, Carlotta Barr of Fort Smith; twelve grandchildren, Michael Luster, Shari Luster, James P. Bartlett, Nathan Bartlett, Braydon Bartlett, Thomas Marshall II, Victor Marshall, Jacob Marshall, Destine Robertson, Montana Bishop, Dakota Bishop, and Kaitlynn Bishop; as well as countless other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at New Cemetery in Mulberry, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be Mike Tindall, Dallas Bartlett, James P. Bartlett, Tom Luster, Micheal Luster, Jeramany Bartlett, and Keith Roberson. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Bartlett, Braydon Bartlett, and Thomas Marshal.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
