Richard “Dick” Vanourny, 90, of Mountainburg, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at his home. He was born December 13, 1931 in Wilber, NE to the late Adolph and Blanche (Novak) Vanourny. He served in the U.S. Navy upon the Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Korean Conflict; was a farmer and carpenter; and was a member of the Gideons International, ministering to prison inmates and loved passing out Bibles in the schools.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Vanourny; two sons, David and Mark Vanourny; and a sister, Irene Cerveny.
He is survived by a son, Darin Vanourny and wife Glenda of Mountainburg; a sister, Shirley Nelson of Lincoln, NE; five grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Newberry Cemetery in Alma, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Vanourny, Stephen Vanourny, Samuel Vanourny, Elisha Vanourny, James Vanourny, and Travis Hill.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
