Melvin Lewis, 88, of Mountainburg, AR, died Friday December 21, 2012 in his home. He was born June 12, 1924 in Smithville, Utah to Ralph and May Lewis. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Alma, served in the Army during World War II, and he worked in Quality Control for the Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Bonnie Bruhns.
He is survived by his wife, Allie Lewis of the home; two daughters, Suzanne Lewis of Rogers, AR, Becky Tufts of Rogers, AR; two sons, Blake Lewis of Burien, WA, Tom Lewis of Fort Smith, AR; three sisters, Eunice Kent of Provo, UT, Connie Sawyer of Tempe, AZ, Tamara Grange of Smithfield, UT; three brothers Sherman Lewis of Smithfield, UT, Robert Lewis of Ogden, UT; Don Lewis of Ogden, Utah; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Alma with burial at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Jim Tufts, Jason Tufts, Enoch Tufts, Aaron Tufts, Timothy Tufts, and Pete Gonzales.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren, AR.
