Mary Lou Mathis Butler, 90, of Van Buren, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 in a local hospital. She was a retired greeter at Sparks Regional Medical Center, worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Alma, AR. Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Carlos Mathis; a daughter, Martha Jo Baum; a son, Ben David Mathis; a sister, Mamie Morgan; and her second husband, Bill Butler.
She is survived by three daughters, Nevada Sue Reynolds of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Jean Parker and husband David of Van Buren, AR, and Mary Lue Mondier of Fort Smith, AR; a niece Macie Trice of Roland, OK; 14 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR with interment to follow at Woodlawn under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Hickman, Wade Hickman, Scott Montgomery, Rayce Montgomery, Matt Mondier, and Ron Smith.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
